Stump grinding uses a circular cutting wheel machine with teeth that grind the stump into wood chips, the remains are often used as mulch. The process of grinding a stump 6-8" below grade helps ensure it won't sprout again and allows for new landscaping options on your property. Unlike stump removal by excavation, stump grinding is more cost effective and poses less risk to disturbing buried hydro and gas utilities.
Stump Grizzly uses various sizes of stump grinding machines to remove stumps safely and efficiently without damage to surrounding structures, trees or landscaping. Stump grinding guards and temporary fencing is installed around the stump site to minimize flying debris and post grinding clean-up.
Property Value - Unsightly tree stumps consume yard space, are an eye sore and make your yard look disorderly. Stump removal increases curb appeal and can provide for new landscape options that attracts potential buyers.
Insect Infestation - Tree stumps begin to decay and naturally attract a variety or pesky insects that can be damaging to surrounding trees, plants and even spread infestations to your home.
Liability Hazard - Tree stumps and roots can pose a liability as a tripping hazard for visitors, certain households that have young kids, or senior citizens. Additionally, stumps can ruin lawn mowing equipment and if located near a driveway, cause damage to vehicles driving into them.
One of the main reasons for removing a tree stump is to prevent insect infestations that can spread from your yard into your home. The most common insects that are naturally attracted to stumps and can start an infestation are: carpenter ants, termites, wood-boring beetles and caterpillars.
